Doctor Zhivago — An Inexpressible Love Story

I was drawn to the movie Doctor Zhivago because of its utterly beautiful music, but in the end, I couldn’t get out emotionally because of its inexpressible love stories. There are no simple words to explain that complicated, tangled love between Doctor Zhivago and Lara, and between Doctor Zhivago and Tonya.

Love is an eternal theme for centuries. It is the most praised word in human history. It is the inner most feeling only human know how it can be controlled by their self-defined moral standards, and how it can be judged by their self-opinionated right and wrong.

I have to confess I love Tonya more than Lara. Tonya’s devoted love to Doctor Zhivago is unconditional love. After she knows the truth, her kind heart only has kind words for Doctor Zhivago and Lara. A self-sacrificed love, sad but it is true.

Lora’s love for Doctor Zhivago is genuine, but in the end, she surrenders her love in order to survive.

Doctor Zhivago’s love for Tonya is more or less a kindly love in return, but his love for Lora is truly from his heart.

Love would be much simpler if we think ourselves are animal, not human being. Are we?
