The song “Farewell” is a well-known classic in China. It was traditionally sung when people bid farewell to friends heading off to the battlefield. Today, it is often performed at graduation ceremonies and large gatherings. The lyrics are rich with sentimental imagery deeply rooted in Chinese culture—colonnades, ancient roads, willows, and flutes—all beautifully woven together to convey the sorrow of parting from dear friends.
This is my translation of this timeless piece. I truly believe it’s the best version available. I did it!
