Step by Step 3D Demonstration of Yang Style Tai Chi (24 Forms)- Part 1

Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese martial art. It’s very popular in China because it has a lot of health benefits both on your body and your mind. The simplest Tai Chi has 24 forms. Each of them has a unique name. This post shows a step by step 3D demonstrations from Form 1 to Form 8. The completed video is shown below. Remember: when you practice, focus your eyes on the hand which moves in front of your eyes. You always squat down a little bit during the practice. Try to move your body and your arms as smoothly as passible. So, all movements look very graceful and classy.

1). Form 1: Opening Form

Step to the left. Arms forward. Sink. Your arms imitate water sinking down.

 

2).  Form 2: Part a Wild Horse’s Mane on Both Sides

This posture looks like you are parting a wild horse’s mane to the both sides.

First, your left leg steps forward. Your left arm imitates parting a wild horse’s mane.

Next, your right leg steps forward. Your right arm imitates parting a wild horse’s mane.

In order to move to the next form, repeat: your left leg steps forward and your left arm parts a wild horse’s mane again.

 

3). Form 3: White Crane Spreads Its Wings

This form is a transition form between Form 2 and Form 4.

This posture imitates the white crane spreading its wing.

 

4). Form 4: Brush Knee And Push Hands

First,  turn your body from your left to the right and push your right hand to the left.

Your right leg steps forward.

Next,  push your left hand to the right.

Your left leg steps forward.

Repeat. Push your right hand to the left.

 

5). Form 5: Playing Lute

This is a transition form between Form 4 and Form 6.

 The posture looks like you are holding a lute.

 

6). Form 6: Step Back and Swing Back Your Arms

From Form 5, first, your right arm swing back.

Second, your left leg steps backward and your left arm swings back at the same time.

Repeat.

Your right leg steps backward and your right arm swing back at the same time.

Your left leg steps backward and your left arm swings back at the same time.

To continue to the next Form 7,

 Your right leg steps backward and your right arm swing back at the same time again.

 

 

 

7).  Form 7: Grasp the Bird’s Tail —Left Side

First, your left leg steps forward.

Second, your two arms swing back and forth from left side.

Third, push both of your arms back and forth two times.

Fourth, turn your whole body 180 degree from right.

 

8). Form 8: Grasp the Bird’s Tail —Right Side

First, your right leg steps forward.

Second, your two arms swing back and forth from right side.

Third, push both of your arms back and forth two times.
